Singling out Symmetry

Symmetry in 3D Starts Harvest

An Autoheader harvests grain. Its Front (shown) ‘combs’ grain heads evenly into the header. Symmetry, in all three dimensions around the long Reel, is integral in all aspects of this design, as is equal spacings. Six Finger Arms rotate around the Reel – of which four can be seen. The two Wheels show six holes matching to the six attachments for these Arms – holes and attachments are also symmetrical in shape. Between Wheels, Arms have thirteen Fingers – a symmetry giving twelve equal combing spaces. The symmetrical, evenly spaced pattern shown between these two Wheels, is repeated along the Reel.
