MPE Public Lecture: Act Beyond Borders
Mathematics – the key to effective healthcare and global sustainability
In the same way that systems biology uses mathematics to model biological systems, mathematics can help us understand economic systems, climate change, medicine and design intelligent systems which respond to unpredictable environments.
In this talk Prof. Kitano will introduce a number of his projects including the international robot soccer tournament RoboCup, the deployment of open energy systems in Africa and how computational models are impacting drug discovery. He will then explain the vital role of mathematics in healthcare and global sustainability; why he feels mathematics should feed into strategic and policy decisions.
